I collected everything I possibly could about how things work out here in the real federation in one final post. Hopefully it is of some use to new implementors or those just curious about the way things work.
I've finished writing part 1 of "OcapPub: Towards networks of consent", which is to say the "Conceptual Overview" section https://gitlab.com/spritely/ocappub/blob/master/README.org
There's a lot there already, and we haven't even gotten to Part 2, the "How to Build It" section yet. I'll begin work on that tomorrow.
What's here already is more or less an explanation of *why* OcapPub is taking the particular direction it is taking, and why other approaches run into serious problems.
an appeal to the fediverse regarding anti-abuse
Fascism joining the fediverse is extremely bad, and we have to do something about it. But please, please, please: give me two weeks before you roll out any new solutions. Some of the solutions being proposed look like they will make the situation better but will make it much worse.
I am dropping nearly everything to write a demo and spec explaining how to do things right. Please give me two weeks. I've been preparing for this.

ForgeFed is a project aiming to define a protocol and a vocabulary for federation of project hosting and collaboration platforms (forges), and get it implemented in the existing forges such as GitLab CE, Gitea and so on.
Federation is based on ActivityPub with some tweaks and new vocabulary :)
I'm working on a demo, implementing federation in a forge called Vervis. Earlier today I deployed 2 test instances for this! More details and links soon :)
So Game of Thrones themed rap is a thing now
@email@example.com I only see an empty object (and even here: https://client.webfinger.net/lookup?resource=toromino%40kodachrome.club ), where as microblog.pub (and Mastodon) is expecting a link (rel=self) with your AP actor URL.
@firstname.lastname@example.org microblog.pub (and Mastodon AFAIK) will try to get your AP Actor URL via Webfinger, and since it's an empty object, it cannot retrieve it (that's why I cannot reply to objects from Kibou, because the mention parser is failing)
